ABOUT WILSON LAKE
In the early 1930’s, the great golf architect Wayne Stiles created the classic nine-hole layout that still sits today by the shores of Wilson Lake in picturesque Wilton, Maine. The course opened on August 6th, 1932 and has been a favorite amongst both local golfers and friends from “away” ever since. More than a few who have experienced Wilson Lake Country Club comment on how it has retained much of its original Stiles character across over eight decades of play.
The course has historical significance not only for its excellent Stiles layout, but also for the fact that in 1946 the famous Patty Berg played an exhibition match here, setting the women’s course record of 38. It was Berg herself who once pronounced Wilson Lake to be “the best nine in Maine.”
OUR LOGO
Our Club’s logo originates from a perfectly-preserved copy of the Wilson Lake bylaws from 1932, the year the Club began playing golf. On the front cover of the bylaws is the name of the Club… the year of the book… and a distinctive shamrock. We carefully scanned the image and painstakingly recreated both the graphic and the typeface in a format that will now be used for club logowear, logo balls, et cetera. It’s a new look for the Club that pays homage to its Golden Age beginnings.
